Youth Advocacy Engagement Meeting in Mabanta Community

The first step in addressing youths wellbeing is try as best as possible in asking them what is it that they want within their community and not what someone in some place thinks they need.

One best way to do this is engaging them on the best way forward to achieve what they want and how they go about achieving that.

Rehabilitation of Mabanta Community Center Makeni

Aibia is in Partnership with Youth Dream Center Sierra Leone and is undertaken the Rehabilitation of the Mabanta Community Center. The project is looking at creating space for young people to have a place to sit and discuss issues affecting them and their society.

Working on Achieving Youth Dreams

Aibia have been working closely with the Youth Dream Centre Sierra Leone for the potential  Implementation of a Space Project in Urban Mabanta Community in Makeni City.

We are also looking for Future support for the appropriate utilization of the building after it completion.

Aibia would provide leadership training to these young people and also provide them with information and communication training and equipment so that young people are able to communicate their situation to the wider world.

The Office is Finished!!

It took several years - interrupted by malaria, Ebola, a PhD, rising material costs, and a family being started - but we've finished it. So now we can start the real work! 

The next year will mostly be planning, administration, and getting funding and materials. So we've leased it to another organization for the next year, to help us cover our costs while before start implementing our projects. But by next October we will have computers and space for the community, and be able to offer computer training, public internet access, and meeting space. We will also have office space to run our other projects from here as well. We of course have a lot of work to do to get the funding and materials, but it is an exciting moment for us... A long journey to get here, but one that is only just beginning!
